General Dental Health Questions

How do I know if I should see a dentist?

Generally speaking, we recommend exams and cleanings every six months to help our patients achieve their health and smile goals. However, sometimes, you may need additional treatment for an unexpected dental problem. Be on the lookout for:

  • Sensitivity to hot or cold
  • Pain when chewing
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Red, irritated, swollen, or bleeding gums
  • Chronic bad breath
  • Headaches

If you experience any of these symptoms, give us a call at (415) 433-0119. We’ll schedule you for an appointment right away and help you feel better fast!

Do I have sleep apnea?

Sleep apnea is a common condition affecting 20 million people in the United States. However, left undiagnosed and untreated it can be serious! Do you:

  • Feel tired throughout the day
  • Have chronic headaches
  • Think you’re not getting good sleep
  • Wake up at night
  • Snore

These symptoms are common among sleep apnea sufferers and a simple non-invasive DNA appliance treatment may be the answer you need. Contact Dr. Patel at Green Dentistry to schedule your consultation today.

Is dental anxiety normal?

Yes! Nearly 40% of adults report feeling anxious before a dental appointment. Many even say that dental anxiety keeps them from getting the dental care they need.

While dental anxiety is normal, it can be overcome with the help of an empathetic, caring dentist. Dr. Patel and the team at Green Dentistry are incredibly gentle and offer amazing spa-like amenities to help you relax, including: aromatherapy, warm blankets, and much more.

However, even more importantly, Dr. Patel will help you feel at ease throughout your appointment, taking the time to answer all your questions and explain your treatment.

Questions About Holistic Dentistry

Questions From Our Patients

What will my first appointment be like?

Your first appointment at our San Francisco dentist office will take about an hour and a half. You’ll start by completing new patient paperwork, including:

  • Health history
  • Health questionnaire
  • Office privacy policy

During your appointment, our experienced staff will ask you questions, get to know your oral hygiene routine, and listen to your health concerns. We believe in the power of educating our patients and making them an active participant in their oral health. We’ll help you improve your home care routine, including tips on proper brushing and flossing techniques.

As part of your first appointment, a dental hygienist will clean your teeth, and Dr. Patel will complete your examination and make recommendations for dental treatments.

Where is your office located?

We’re located in Union Square at 360 Post Street, Suite 704 (Click for Directions). We’re just a short walk from the Powell Street BART station. Our office is open from 8AM-6PM, Monday through Friday. We’re also available by appointment to see you in the evenings or on the weekends.

What payment methods and insurance do you accept?

We accept a variety of insurance plans, as well as cash, checks, and credit cards. If needed, we can also provide financing for your dental care, including 24-month Care Credit plans, Lending Club financing, and our own in-office dental savings plan. If you have any questions about finances or payment options, contact our front desk staff. They are happy to explain your options and to help you understand the specific benefits your dental insurance provides.
