What You Can Do To Prevent Sensitive Teeth (Video)
Hi, friends. Today I want to speak to you about what you can do in order to prevent teeth sensitivity on a regular basis.
So sometimes you may be like, “Oh my God, my teeth are so sensitive when I brush them. I don’t know what to do. Sometimes I don’t want to go in for a cleaning because it’s going to hurt.” So, let’s talk about a few things you can start right away and you can start them today to help with sensitivity, okay?
So the first thing is making sure you are not brushing your teeth so hard. When you brush too hard, it removes the gum tissue and it will cause sensitivity on your teeth. So very important. You only need one gram of force to brush your teeth. Very gentle. So number one place to start with avoiding tooth sensitivity is being very gentle with your brushing. Okay?
Now, second is going to be using toothpaste that have hydroxyapatite in it. What that’s going to do is if you do have gum recession, it will help make sure that the tooth surface is lined with a stronger material, so that will help significantly with making sure that your sensitivity is minimized.
Now, the other reason is that patients also grind. Well, you have a lot of sensitivities if you’re grinding your teeth, so that’s why I recommend that, pay attention if you’re grinding your teeth. That will cause a lot of sensitivity, so make sure you are checking if you are clenching and grinding. If you are clenching and grinding, it’s going to be from, sometimes it’s stress, sometimes it’s also an airway issue, so I want to make sure you get that checked out. Super important because it will save your life. Really making sure that you’re paying attention to grinding, which is a lot of times related to airway and TMJ.
