How Sleep Is Related to Low Libido and Your Teeth (Video)
Hi ladies and gentlemen. And hi everyone. Today’s topic is really interesting actually. One of the things that I was asked recently is how does dentistry, or how does my sleep have anything to do with my low libido? I don’t feel sexy, I don’t feel excited, and I don’t know how it’s all related. Does this have anything to do with my teeth and also my sleep? And can you please connect the dots for me? So of course I will, and I’m delighted to answer that for you.
Lack of Sleep Lowers the Libido
So one of the things that we’re finding is that when patients do not get enough sleep, they don’t have the best libido. They’re not feeling very sexy, not feeling very excited, more tired and fatigued and not excited, is really more what they are feeling. And the reasons why that occurs is because the dental arches are not developed properly.
Poorly Developed Dental Arches Disrupt Sleep
And if the dental arches are not developed properly, they’re impacting the breathing. So they’re not able to breathe through their nose really well. And when they’re not able to breathe through their nose or have a functional airway which goes through the nose or the back of a throat and down, there’s a lot of exhaustion in the body and the brain doesn’t really get a chance to sleep and doesn’t really get that rest or REM sleep that we want, or the dream state of sleep.
So you’re never feeling refreshened and you’re never feeling excited. It’s always this dread, this anxiety, or this exhaustion or this tiredness or this heavy cloud because your body is lacking oxygen that it really needs. And so what we’re finding is that patients who don’t have correctly developed upper and lower jaws or need bifunctional therapy, meaning training for their tongue so that there’s a functional airway, we are finding that there’s low libido and exhaustion.
How a Dentist Can Help
And it’s easily fixable, which is wonderful. I would say give us a call and let us support you. And I hope this made sense about the exhaustion is what’s causing the lack of libido and the exhaustion’s coming from not enough sleep, and the sleep is coming from not being able to breathe through the nose or the back of throat and down. And the obstruction or the problem is actually right here or right here actually, I would like to say. It’s either right here or right here. So all of these are interrelated and these are all things that a dentist can help you with. So please give us a buzz and I’d be happy to go through this with you.
