Dr. Nammy Patel from San Francisco Green Dentistry discusses the best vitamins for your teeth, including calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D.
What are the best vitamins for your teeth?
So, the best vitamins for your teeth are calcium, magnesium and vitamin D. So that whole triage is what’s really important. Many people end up taking just calcium or magnesium. You actually need the triage of calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D for your teeth, because it’s actually the way that the calcium, magnesium and vitamin D work together in order to build bone and also build enamel.
What about a multivitamin?
A multivitamin is really important too. I would say, especially if you’re over 40. One a day is really key. And aside from the vitamins, what I actually really recommend is strengthening your bone in different ways, which is Tai Chi. I’m a big fan of Tai Chi because, of course, using lower weights is really great, especially for women. But the reason I like Tai Chi so much is because you’re using your own body weight. When we’re using our own body weight, to be able to activate these cells in our bone to grow bone, that’s actually very beneficial for us. And it doesn’t require us taking a pill or anything other than that. So, that’s why I’m a big lover of Tai Chi.
