Dr. Nammy talks about how Green Dentistry is giving back to the community through donations to nonprofit groups.
The culture of giving back to my community is very important. So one of the things that I’ve incorporated into Green Dentistry is we donate 10% of our profits to nonprofit. So it’s really wonderful what we’re able to do for profit work and also give back for the greater good of society, and that is an important passion of mine. I come from humble beginnings so I know for sure it’s something that I appreciate, and I want to make sure that I’m doing my due diligence in really creating a wonderful global community and really pushing our society forward. Every year we’ve picked many different nonprofits. One of the few that really stand out to me is Planned Parenthood. Basically, Planned Parenthood, as we all know, has been defunded, and so to be able to support women and getting cervical cancer screenings and also men, making sure that people who need HIV medications are getting that and really serving the underserved in the best way possible.
The other one that I hold dear to my heart is the homelessness community. From a child my family personally works with Tenderloin Housing Clinic, which actually helps take homeless people off the streets and puts them into rehab so that they can get their life back on track. So the organization that I work with is Northeast Citizens. They’ve been really great. I’ve worked with many different organizations on many different levels in order to be able to see what we can do to help the homeless people get off the streets and into a loving, caring home.
