The Connection Between Your Mouth and the Rest of the Body (Video)
Hi, it’s Dr. Nammy again, and today I wanted to share with you about what is the connection between the mouth and the rest of the body. Now, this is very simple. It actually boils down to two most important things.
The number one thing is that your mouth has saliva in it, so it is your microbiome. And your microbiome is very important because that is your immune system. So we really want to look at the bacteria that are in your mouth. That is number one.
Now, the second thing about holistic health is that we actually look at your upper and lower jaws as well as your sinuses in your airway. Now, the reason we do that is because there’s one thing your body cannot live without, and that is called air. And not just any kind of air, we want good air. Air that has nitric oxide in it. And the only way you can produce that is, number one, breathing through the nose, and it takes oxygen, converts to nitric oxide. Now that nitric oxide fights cancer, heart attack, diabetes, and everything else.
The other thing is that your saliva is really important because what that does is takes the food we eat and the nitrogen from the soil and turns it into nitric oxide in our belly. So bacteria is very critical in helping us do that. So we always test your oral microbiome. We also check nose breathing and also your sinuses and how your dental arches can actually influence breathing so that you can live a long, healthy life.
