Nutrition and How It Relates To Your Oral Health (Video)
Hi friends. Today I’m going to talk about nutrition and how it relates to your mouth and your health.
So, most importantly, we always want to have good nutrition because nutrition is what our body uses, breaks it down and makes our skin, makes our teeth, makes our cellular organs. So the kind of food we put in our system is very critical.
It’s kind of like, you’ve heard the term, “You are what you eat.” It’s kind of true. “You are what you eat” is very important because we want to have really nutrient-rich and dense food, things that are rich in vitamins A, C, D, E, also Omega-3s are really important for our brain function. Also, making sure that we’re having a balanced diet, having enough protein, and also making sure that we are limiting really high fatty foods, we’re limiting alcohol, we’re limiting sugar, because all of these things actually break down our body and lead to problems.
For example, you can look at another quick, easy example would be soda. Having soda, number one, causes so much cavities on your teeth. That is not good. What’s going to happen is that the soda will also cause problems in your body because it’s very acidic. It can also cause an ulcer, so basically a hole in your stomach, which can put you in the hospital. So that’s why we want to really pay attention to nutrition and be mindful of the things that we put in our body.
