Using Lasers in Dentistry (Video)
Hi, this is Dr. Nammy and I wanted to share with you today about lasers. Lasers are wonderful tools. Lasers are light technology, and they are wonderful to be able to utilize for healing purposes. I’m sure you’ve heard of laser beams and sometimes you think, “Oh my God, laser beams are going to cut something.” That is true. There are, there are laser beams that we use to do a presentation that’s also true as well. That’s completely safe.
Laser Dental Fillings
There’s a lot of lasers that we can utilize in Dentistry to make it very comfortable. The main reasons that I utilize lasers is for two reasons. Number one is if I needed to do a filling, we can actually utilize lasers to, well, remove tooth structure and do a filling, and it’s really great because you don’t need injections, you don’t need shots. It’s very comfortable, and that is one reason for using lasers.
Photobiostimulation With Lasers
The second reasons for using lasers is photobiostimulation, which means healing. What we can do is if there’s a cut on your skin, or sometimes if we do like a deep clean, we can utilize the laser system to help heal so that you’ll be very comfortable after the procedure, which is great.
Laser Bacteria Removal
Then the third reason for utilizing lasers is that lasers actually eradicate bacteria. There are some bacteria in your mouth that are resistant to cleaning, so that means when you go in for your routine cleanings, they may not be removed because you can’t just scrape them away. They actually need to be eradicated in a different way. It can either be through chemicals or it can either be through a laser beam.
We really like lasers because they are safe, they’re highly specific, and they work instantaneously, and that is the main reason why we love lasers in our practice.
